How do you change your profile on PetFinder? ›

Update your personal information like name, address, and email preferences. Click Profile Information in the MY PRO section on the main menu.

A great photo makes your adoptable pet more likely to be viewed online and, most importantly, more likely to connect with a potential adopter.

History. Betsy Banks Saul and Jared Saul came up with the idea of Petfinder.org in early 1996, when Betsy was working for New Jersey's urban forestry program while completing her Master's thesis at Clemson University. In 2005, Petfinder launched a large database of pets rescued from the effects of Hurricane Katrina.

Each of your adoptable pets has a “Sponsor” button on his or her profile. When a visitor to Petfinder clicks the Sponsor button on one of your adoptable pets, they can donate to your organization. And you'll also receive your donors' contact information so that you build long-term relationships.

Add photos and a video when you create a pet listing. You can come back and edit at any time after a listing is created. While photos are not required to post a pet, they certainly help get pets adopted quicker! Post up to 6 photos for each pet (or 5 photos and 1 video).

From your group's Dashboard, click Add a Pet or go to Pet Listings from the main menu. Choose the animal type you'll be posting and add their name and status. Scroll to Pictures & Video and click Browse to add up to 6 images, or 5 images and 1 video. Choose the best headshot picture as Primary.

A courtesy listing is a listing for pets that are not actually with a rescue, but that the rescue has agreed to post for individuals to help find them new homes more quickly. Not all rescue's use courtesy listings so this may or may not apply to you.

To receive an API and secret key, create a free account with Petfinder on their developer page and request an API key. The API and secret key received from Petfinder are what we will use to authenticate our connection to the Petfinder API with PetfindeR .

How do I delete my Petfinder account? ›

You cannot delete your account. Try mailing them: pets@petfinder.com – ask for account removal, and supply your account details.
